Microneedling Q & A

How does micro-needling work?

Traditional micro-needling exfoliates the skin and stimulates the skin’s natural healing abilities. It also substantially increases the skin’s ability to absorb beneficial products that can further optimize results. AquaGold uses 20 tiny, gold microneedles and a refined treatment process to perform microchannel mesotherapy, delivering these essential compounds beneath the mesodermal layer of the skin.

What are the benefits of AquaGold?

AquaGold is not a one-size-fits-all treatment, which means you get the results that are tailored to your needs. AquaGold delivers just the right amount of product beneath your skin, creating a treatment protocol that’s customized to you. It involves no harsh chemicals or medications. It’s minimally invasive and nonsurgical, and it still gives you tighter, younger-looking skin.

What products may be used with AquaGold?

AquaGold microneedling allows a number of different, skin boosting ingredients to target your skin in ways not available with topical applications. Dr. Adams determines the right combination according to your skin type, goals, and needs.

Hyaluronic acid helps plump the skin and improve volume of a particular treatment area. Hyaluronic acid is also found in dermal filler injectables, such as Juvederm, and benefits skin with a crepe-like appearance or sunken look.

Retinol is a powerful antioxidant that reduces inflammation and mitigates sun damage. It also enhances the skin’s smoothness and reduces dead skin cells. Retinol improves your skin’s hydration, too, so your skin cells retain nutrients, growth factors, and glutathione.

Vitamin C is a water-soluble compound that improves the production of the skin-strengthening compound, collagen and decreases the severity of inflammatory responses. Vitamin C also helps your epidermis trap moisture, so you look hydrated and healthier.

Dr. Adams may also recommend custom compounds that contain growth factors. Typically, growth factors can augment the concentration of cells that fight bacteria, increase the amount of platelets that positively affect the skin, and promote the influx of beneficial proteins. Some of the compounds regularly increase oxygenation in the skin and induce the production of new blood cells.

What happens during a microneedling session?

A microneedling session requires no topical anesthetic. The procedure is simple: The staff cleanses your skin and presses the AquaGold device directly against your skin to deliver the specialized combination of products directly into your dermis. There’s no downtime following a session.
